Responsible for pre-need sales and company wide marketing strategy for an organization with locations and associates across seven states. This role will have tremendous opportunities to develop innovative processes and campaigns that promote exceptional service and create outstanding customer experiences, to shape the future of our organization.

This position serves as a member of the senior leadership team. Vertin is headquartered in the western suburbs of Minneapolis.

Vice President, Sales and Marketing – The Vertin Company Responsibilities and Requirements:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sales (40%)

  • Critically evaluate sales processes and champion strategic and operational changes to build a more efficient, effective sales organization.
  • Implement and advocate for tactical change to meet goals.
  • Realign and refocus sales capabilities through transformational change.
  • Develop annual sales strategic plan and budget in support of organization strategy and objectives.
  • Utilize data analytics to strengthen sales process and performance.
  • Develop and implement key growth sales strategies, tactics, and action plans.
  • Direct implementation and execution of sales policies and practices.
  • Ensure communications are coordinated, support sales plan objectives, and meet organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Design and manage the company-wide aftercare programs to leverage best practices, support our local brands, and generate pre need opportunities.
  • Build, develop, and manage a sales team capable of carrying out sales initiatives while meeting and exceeding targets.
  • Manage sales team performance by establishing clear metrics and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring timely feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.

Marketing (40%)

  • Implement and advocate for strategic change and set the precedent for excellence.
  • Continually assess and critically evaluate marketing techniques and their efficacy in affecting sales.
  • Develop annual marketing and advertising strategic plan and budget in support of the company strategic objectives and initiatives.
  • Partner with senior leadership team to ensure the best possible and supportive marketing and advertising plan.
  • Direct implementation and execution of marketing policies, brand standards and practices.
  • Ensure marketing communications are coordinated, support marketing plan objectives and meet organizational expenditure requirements.
  • Provide leadership and support for the design, development and implementation of marketing materials.
  • Oversee and direct market research and competitor analyses.
  • Collaborate with and support leadership team on initiatives to promote exceptional service and create outstanding customer experiences.
  • Build, develop, and manage marketing team capable of carrying out needed marketing strategies.
  • Manage marketing team performance by establishing clear metrics and expectations, tracking progress against the goals, ensuring timely feedback, and addressing performance problems and issues promptly.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent from a college or university. Ten or more years related sales and marketing experience and training within a professional setting, where direct oversight/management of others in sales and marketing roles was performed. Specific industry experience is not required.
